Lowell "Max" Ambler, 46, a former LaSalle County sheriff's deputy, was spotted in rural Earlville in LaSalle County, where he is believed to have been seen running from a hunting blind. Ambler is considered armed and dangerous, carrying a .45 caliber, semi-automatic handgun. The manhunt also caused a soft lockdown at Plainfield North High School at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 after a stolen vehicle was found near Plainfield. He was not believed to be in the Plainfield area Wednesday afternoon. The suspect was believed to have stolen a semi-trailer truck out of LaSalle County and arrived in the Plainfield area. |
Ambler, of Mendota in LaSalle County, is wanted on a bail bond violation in connection to two previous charges of home invasion and aggravated battery in Lee County. Earlville is about 46 miles west of Plainfield, Illinois; and about 13 miles east of Mendota. The suspect carjacked a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe with license plate S785884, and the offender immediately fled the area in an unknown direction. The SUV was found abandoned in Earlville Wednesday. |
