Kane County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) and Aurora responded about 11:47 a.m. Monday October 17, 2017 to high-speed fatal crash that involved a semi-trailer truck and two vehicles near the exits from Interstate 88 to Orchard Road. The two vehicles -- a Jaguar and GMC Envoy SUV struck the semi-trailer truck as the truck's driver was turning southbound on Orchard Road from the westbound exit ramp from I-88. Two men died and three others were injured after two cars crashed at high speed into a semi-truck in Aurora. Police suspect the fatal crash may have resulted from a case of roving shots fired between two of the crashed vehicles -- the passenger vehicles. Police report that the driver of the Jaguar -- the only occupant of the vehicle -- was transported to an Aurora hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The GMC Envoy was occupied by a driver and two passengers. The driver, Christopher Shaw, age 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both passengers were airlifted to a Chicago area hospital with life-threatening injuries. |
One of the airlifted passengers, Devonte Bouchee, age 24, died at the hospital. The semi-trailer truck driver was transported to an area hospital with injuries initially believed to be non-life threatening. North Aurora Fire Department activated a MABAS Division 13 Box Alarm for heavy extrication. At least one of the patients in the GMC Envoy wasn't removed by extrication until possibly about 1:05 p.m. (not confirmed by authorities). The Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Aurora Police are currently investigating two separate reports of shots fired in the Aurora area that were reported prior to the fatal crash. Kane County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) and Aurora police are investigating the crash for connection to the earlier shots fired incidents that involved moving vehicles with the discharge of weapons.
